Composition and Properties of SS 347 Sheets
The chemical composition of SS 347 is 18-20% Chromium, 9-13% Nickel, 0.08% Carbon, 0.75% Silicon, 2.0% Manganese, and Nb (Columbium) + Tantalum at 10x C minimum. The high chromium (Cr) is added to increase the oxidation resistance, whereas nickel (Ni) content is used to increase the overall corrosion resistance, particularly in acidic environments. The niobium (Nb) stabilization prevents precipitation of carbides, thereby maintaining weldability. Considering mechanical properties, SS 347 has a tensile strength of 515 MPa, yield strength of 205 MPa and elongation of 40%, thereby ensuring reliability in harsh conditions. This unique combination of chemical and mechanical properties makes it a superior choice for high-temperature and high-stress environments.
