Pitting and crevice corrosion tend to damage welded joints and flanges before any general corrosion is even visible. Hastelloy Alloy Plate grades hold up against both chloride-rich and acidic conditions, including hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid and wet chlorine gas. There’s also decent oxidation resistance at higher temperatures. Not many materials manage both at once.
Hastelloy Alloy Plate Supplier
Nandini Steel stocks Hastelloy Plate material across several grades, thicknesses and finishes, for buyers who need material that won’t fail mid-project. Plates are available from 3mm to 100mm thick and up to 2500mm wide, and we cut to project dimensions on request. Mill finish, 2B and polished options cover structural work as well as hygienic-grade jobs.
Critical-service industries need materials they can trace back. As a Hastelloy Plate Supplier, we send a mill test certificate with every shipment, confirming chemical composition and mechanical properties against ASTM and ASME standards. Chemical plants, offshore platforms and pharmaceutical manufacturers come to us mainly for this reason. Our Mumbai facility handles stock orders and custom-cut requirements without long delays.
Hastelloy Plate Grades Available
Different service conditions need different alloy chemistries. The grades available for Hastelloy Plates at Nandini Steel are:
- Hastelloy C276 Plates resist pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking in reducing and oxidizing acid environments.
- Hastelloy C22 Plates offer superior resistance to oxidizing media, including wet chlorine and ferric chloride solutions.
- Hastelloy X Plates withstand high-temperature oxidation and carburization in gas turbine and furnace applications.
- Hastelloy C2000 Plates combine resistance to sulfuric acid and chloride pitting in a single versatile alloy.

Quality Testing of Hastelloy Plates
Each batch is tested for its chemical composition to ensure nickel, molybdenum and chromium content is as specified for the grade. Mechanical testing is next. Tensile strength, yield strength and elongation are measured against ASTM limits. Hardness testing is done over the whole surface of the plate too, so any inconsistency is spotted before dispatch.
Dimensional inspection checks thickness, width and length against order tolerances, which saves rework later during fabrication. Surface inspection looks for laminations, pitting or scale marks that could shorten service life. Where grade identity really matters, we run PMI testing on-site with portable spectrometers. Thicker plates going into pressure vessel or reactor service also get ultrasonic testing, which picks up internal flaws that surface checks miss. Every plate ships with a Mill Test Certificate, so the material can be traced back to its original heat number.

How to Select the Right Hastelloy Alloy Plates?
Start with the corrosive environment the plate has to face. Reducing acid, oxidising acid or a mixed chemical stream will point you toward different grades entirely. Operating temperature matters too. A plate rated fine for ambient acid exposure can fail once temperatures go past 300°C. Chemical concentration and the duration of plate exposure also affect how quickly the media attacks the surface.
Once that’s clear, match it to a grade. C276 works for broad-spectrum resistance, C22 for oxidising chlorides, X for high-temperature service. Thickness and dimensions come from the vessel or component design. Check the applicable ASTM or ASME specification before the order is finalised, since compliance paperwork depends on it. Fabrication and welding also need thought. Some grades need controlled heat input, otherwise, you get carbide precipitation at the weld zone.
Applications of Hastelloy Plates
These plates are used across industries where carbon steel and regular stainless steel wear out too quickly.
- Chemical Processing: It handles concentrated acids and mixed chemical streams inside reactors, storage tanks, and piping systems without rapid wall loss.
- Petrochemical: It withstands sour gas, hydrogen sulfide, and high-temperature hydrocarbon processing in refinery units and cracking towers.
- Oil & Gas: It resists sulfide stress cracking and chloride pitting in downhole tubing, wellhead components, and subsea equipment.
- Pharmaceutical: It maintains a contamination-free surface in reactors and mixing vessels exposed to aggressive cleaning agents and solvents.
- Power Generation: It tolerates high-temperature flue gases and sulfuric acid condensation in boiler and emission-control components.
- Pollution Control Equipment: It survives scrubber environments with wet chlorine, sulfur dioxide, and acidic condensate exposure.
- Heat Exchangers: It transfers thermal load efficiently while resisting corrosion from both process-side and cooling-side chemistries.
- Reactors and Process Equipment: It handles cyclic thermal and chemical stress in vessels processing organic and inorganic acids.
- Flue Gas Desulfurization Systems: It resists wet-dry cycling and chloride concentration buildup common in scrubber absorber sections.
- Marine and Offshore Equipment: It endures saltwater immersion and splash-zone chloride attack on platform components and piping.
Hastelloy Plates Chemical Composition (%)
Hastelloy plates rely on high nickel content combined with molybdenum and chromium to resist pitting and crevice corrosion in reducing environments. C276 and C22 differ mainly in chromium and molybdenum ratio, which affects where each performs best. Buyers comparing this against nickel-alloy coil options can review the Inconel coil range for coil-form equivalents.

Equivalent Grades for Hastelloy Plates
We at Nandini Steel are a trusted Hastelloy plate manufacturer working on European drawings and need the Werkstoff number, while US-based orders usually reference UNS directly. This table lists both alongside the governing ASTM specification for each grade, so cross-checking against a customer’s material call-out takes one lookup instead of several.

FAQ
C276 covers the widest range of reducing and oxidising acids, which is why it’s the usual pick for severe, multi-chemical exposure.
C22 handles oxidising media like wet chlorine better. C276 does better in reducing acid environments, hydrochloric acid being the main example.
ASTM B575 and B435 cover chemical and mechanical requirements. ASME SB575 and SB435 apply for pressure vessel and boiler construction.
Thickness varies from 3mm to 100mm, width up to 2500mm and length up to 6000mm, depending on grade and form.
Yes. We cut to specified dimensions on request, matching fabrication drawings and cutting down offcut waste on your end.
Chemical composition, mechanical, hardness, dimensional, surface, PMI and ultrasonic testing where needed, backed by a Mill Test Certificate.
