316 Stainless Steel Sheet Supplier in India

Nandini Steel is a trusted 316 stainless steel sheet supplier in Mumbai, India. We supply ASTM A240 / ASME SA-240 Type 316 stainless steel sheet (UNS S31600 / AISI 316) in thicknesses from 0.3 mm to 20 mm and widths up to 2000 mm. We are ISO 9001-certified, and all our TP316 Sheets are supplied with mill test certificates

316 SS sheet is an austenitic stainless steel flat product supplied in several surface finishes: 2B mill finish, brushed (#4), mirror polished (#8), and bright annealed (BA). Sheets can be cut to the size required by the customer.

The steel contains 16.0 to 18.0% chromium, 10.0 to 14.0% nickel, and 2.00 to 3.00% molybdenum. The molybdenum content is what makes it different from 304 stainless steel, giving it better resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments. It has a minimum tensile strength of 515 MPa (75 ksi), a minimum yield strength of 205 MPa (30 ksi), and a minimum elongation of 40%.

We keep standard 316 stainless steel sheet sizes in stock, including 1000×2000 mm, 1219×2438 mm (4×8 ft), and 1500×3000 mm. We can also provide custom cut sheets. Available to AMS 5524 upon request for aerospace applications. Marine, chemical processing, food processing, and architectural industries use 316 stainless steel sheet because it resists chloride corrosion. For other grades, see our stainless steel sheets.

316 Stainless Steel Sheet Chemical Composition

316 stainless steel sheet (ASTM A240 Type 316, UNS S31600) has the following chemical composition:
Chromium protects the surface from rust. Nickel keeps the steel tough in hot and cold conditions. Extra molybdenum sets 316 apart from 304 by resisting pitting in salty, chloride-rich environments.

Frequently Asked Questions

SS 316 sheet in India typically costs Rs. 240-280 per kg for 2B finish. Internationally, it’s around USD $3.50-$6.00 per kg, depending on alloy surcharges, finish, and certification.
316 stainless steel sheet is a high-quality stainless steel plate that contains chromium, nickel, and molybdenum. It follows the ASTM A240 (UNS S31600) standard and resists damage from chloride (salt) much better than 304 stainless steel.
Common sizes include 1000×2000 mm, 1219×2438 mm (4×8 ft), 1250×2500 mm, and 1500×3000 mm. Thickness ranges from 0.3 mm to 20 mm in widths of 1000, 1219, 1500, and 2000 mm.
316 stainless steel has a higher carbon content, up to 0.08%. In contrast, 316L has a lower carbon content, with a maximum of 0.03%. This lower carbon content improves its ability to be welded, which is due to less carbide precipitation. 316L has slightly lower tensile strength; many sheets are dual-certified as 316/316L.
Available gauges range from 28 ga (0.38 mm) to 3/4 inch (19.05 mm). Common industrial gauges are 16 ga (1.52 mm), 14 ga (1.91 mm), and 12 ga (2.67 mm). Material over 3 mm is usually classified as plate.
Yes. 316 is called marine‑grade stainless steel. Because of its molybdenum content, it is resistant to corrosion from salt water. As a result, it’s often used in marine applications, offshore structures, and coastal areas.
Yes. Sheets can be cut to your required size using shearing, laser, or waterjet. Standard cutting tolerance is ±1/16 inch. Provide dimensions to receive a quotation.
316 stainless steel sheet weight depends on thickness. Use this formula: weight (kg) = thickness (mm) x width (m) x length (m) x 7.98. For a 4×8 ft (1219 x 2438 mm) sheet: 16 ga (1.52 mm) weighs approximately 36.1 kg, 14 ga (1.91 mm) approximately 45.3 kg, and 3 mm approximately 71.2 kg.

Available finishes include 2B, BA (bright annealed), No.4 brushed, No.8 mirror, hairline, and satin. 2B is common for industry; brushed and mirror finishes are popular in architectural and decorative uses.
