The chromium content in the 310 stainless steel sheet ranges from 24% to 26%, while that of nickel varies between 19% and 22%. Other elements present include Manganese with a maximum of 2%, Silicon of 1.5% max, Carbon at a maximum of 0.25%, Phosphorus with a maximum of 0.045% and Sulfur with a maximum of 0.03%. It is this chemical composition that offers superb oxidation resistance along with outstanding mechanical properties even at high temperatures. The Alloy’s strength is primarily due to high chromium as well as nickel content; it makes it perfectly suitable for highly stressed situations where other grades of stainless steel would fail.
