321 plate outperforms 304 in sustained service above 500 degrees C. Titanium stabilisation prevents the intergranular corrosion that affects 304 at elevated temperatures. For ambient-temperature use, 304 is more cost-effective.
Will 321 stainless steel plate rust?
321 SS plate has strong corrosion resistance in atmospheric and mild chemical environments from its 17.0 to 19.0% chromium content. It won’t rust under normal conditions. In acidic or chloride-rich media, localised corrosion can occur.
