304L Stainless Steel Plate Supplier in India

Nandini Steel is a trusted supplier and stockist of 304L stainless steel plate, based in Mumbai, India. With over 25 years of experience, we supply ASTM A240 / ASME SA-240 Type 304L stainless steel plate, also recognised as UNS S30403 and SS 304L plate, across a full range of sizes and surface finishes. 304L is the low-carbon variant of 304 stainless steel. It contains a maximum of 0.030% carbon, which limits carbide precipitation during welding and protects against intergranular corrosion.

The alloy’s composition includes 18.0 to 20.0% chromium and 8.0 to 12.0% nickel, forming a stable austenitic structure. Type 304L plate offers a minimum tensile strength of 485 MPa (70 ksi) and a minimum yield strength of 170 MPa (25 ksi) with 35% elongation, delivering strong formability for bending and deep drawing. Our 304/304L dual-certified stainless steel plate is stocked in thicknesses from 3 mm to 100 mm, widths up to 2,500 mm, and lengths up to 12,000 mm.

We carry No.1, 2B, BA, No.4, and mirror finishes for food processing, chemical, pharmaceutical, architectural, and heat exchanger applications. All material ships with EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificates. We are ISO 9001 certified. This page covers specifications, chemical composition, mechanical properties, equivalent grades, available sizes, industrial applications, pricing, and frequently asked questions.

Frequently Asked Questions

304L stainless steel plate is used in food processing equipment, chemical storage vessels, pharmaceutical machinery, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, and architectural cladding. Low carbon content makes it ideal for welded fabrications.

304L stainless steel plate price ranges from Rs. 180 to Rs. 350 per kg in India, depending on thickness, finish, and quantity. International pricing is approximately USD $2.50 to $5.00 per kg. Contact us for a current quote.

304L plate has a maximum carbon content of 0.030%, compared to 0.080% in standard 304. Lower carbon reduces chromium carbide precipitation during welding. For welded plate fabrications in corrosive media, low-carbon 304L plate is the preferred choice.

304L plate is available in thicknesses from 3 mm to 100 mm. Stock thicknesses include 3, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 16, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50, 60, 80 and 100 mm. Custom sizes available on request.

304L stainless steel plate has excellent weldability. The low carbon content (0.030% max) minimises sensitisation during welding. Post-weld annealing isn’t required for most plate thicknesses.

304L stainless steel plate is covered by ASTM A240 / ASME SA-240. This specification covers chromium and chromium-nickel stainless steel plate, sheet, and strip for pressure vessels and general use.

304L SS plate is more cost-effective and suits general corrosive conditions. Because of its high molybdenum content (2.00 to 3.00%), 316L plate is more resistant to chlorides and acids. 304L is suitable for light chemical, dairy, and food applications. 316L is better for use in the ocean or with acids.
