Compositions and Properties of Hastelloy C22 Plate

Alloy C22 is based on a chemistry of 22 percent chromium and 13 percent molybdenum. The base element is Nickel, which makes up at least 50.015%. It gives the alloy its strength and robustness. Iron at 2 to 6% and cobalt up to 2.5% help the material cope with harsh chemical environments. Carbon, manganese, silicon, sulfur and phosphorus are each kept at low levels to maintain corrosion resistance and weldability. The combination of these elements makes it a strong candidate for industries that deal with aggressive media on a regular basis.

Applications of Hastelloy C22 Plate

These plates are used in chemical processing plants to handle acids and aggressive chemical streams. In the offshore and marine sector, they resist corrosion from seawater exposure, so ship construction and offshore platform use are common.
