Key Features of Alloy 28 Sheet
- Improved Corrosion Resistance:Although SS 904L is good in chloride and sulfuric acid conditions, Alloy 28 is superior to it in extremely aggressive conditions such as phosphoric and nitric acids because of its increased chromium and molybdenum content.
- Greater Stress Corrosion Cracking Resistance: Alloy 28 offers superior resistance to stress corrosion cracking in chloride-containing solutions compared to SS 904L thereby being more dependable for offshore and marine environments.
- Wider Temperature Range: Alloy 28 offers stability at both higher and lower temperatures compared to 904L which is more sensitive to temperature fluctuations in certain corrosive environments.
- Higher Mechanical Strength:Alloy 28 has better tensile and yield strength than 904L making it the preferred choice in pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and other high-stress environments.
- Better Versatility in Harsh Media: Unlike 904L, which is mostly recommended for sulfuric acid service, Alloy 28 is suitable for a broader range of chemicals, including acidic and alkaline solutions, giving it an edge in multi-purpose applications.
